Chickenpox

By: Suzanne

Disclaimer: I don't own Willow or Oz...or anyone else on Buffy.  Joss Does.

Willow has the chickenpox.  She feels terrible, but not as bad as she did earlier in the week.  Now she was starting to get lonely.  Xander had been by to visit earlier.  He had the chickenpox the summer they were eight, while Willow was away at summer camp.  He had brought Ben & Jerry's with him.  Which Willow had thanked him for profusely.  But Xander was gone now and so was the ice cream.  As Willow was laying in her bed considering picking up her chemistry book...her phone rang.

RING...RING

WILLOW- Hello?

OZ- Hey...how are you feeling?

WILLOW SMILING-Better, but I look worse.

OZ- Well, that just means you're getting better.

WILLOW- I guess, so what are you doing tonight?

OZ SMILING- I thought I'd spend the night with you.

WILLOW- I wish we could,-SIGH- but I'm still contagious.  I won't be able to see anyone for at least 2 more days.

OZ- I know, but we can still talk on the phone.

WILLOW- It's Friday night and you want to spend it at home, on the phone?

OZ- Well no, but I want to spend it with you, and if this is how I have to do it...so be it.

WILLOW- Oh, well then ...um what do you want to do?

OZ- Well the first thing I want you to do is to go look on your patio for what I left there earlier.

WILLOW GETTING UP- What?  What did you leave for me?  WILLOW GOES TO HER PATIO DOOR AND TURNS THE OUTSIDE LIGHT ON.  OUTSIDE SHE SEES A BASKET WRAPPED IN PLASTIC.

WILLOW- Oz what have you done?  SHE GRABS THE BASKET AND BRINGS IT INSIDE SHUTTING AND LOCKING THE DOOR BEHIND HER.

OZ GRINNING- I haven't done anything you don't deserve.

WILLOW SITTING BACK DOWN ON HER BED WITH THE BASKET- Well I'm just so surprised.  When did you do this?

OZ- While Xander was visiting you earlier...so, are you going to open it or not?

WILLOW- Oh...yeah.  UNTIEING THE BOW AT THE TOP WILLOW PULLS THE PLASTIC OFF THE BASKET.  What have we got here...lets see...five candles;  strawberry, raspberry, lime, vanilla and lavender. Some matches.  A bottle of Aveeno bath, TURNING THE BOTTLE OVER AND READING THE BACK a cool oatmeal bath to relieve itching do to rashes and chickenpox.  I can't wait to use that.  Um...what else, some calamine lotion, and The Book of Questions.  Wow this is a lot of stuff.  Thank you so much.

OZ- You're welcome.  I just thought this would be a nice relaxing way to spend the evening.

WILLOW SEEMING CONFUSED- What do you mean.  What are we doing tonight?

OZ GRINNING- I thought we'd take a bath together.

WILLOW BLUSHING- What?  You can't come over here, you'll catch my chickenpox and besides I'm not ready for you to see me ...you know...without clothing.

OZ APOLIGETIC- I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean it like that.  We're doing the phone thing tonight remember?

WILLOW- Yeah. OZ- You in your tub, me in mine.  Actually I don't need to do the bath thing.  I just thought it would be more interesting.

WILLOW FINALLY UNDERSTANDING WHAT HE HAS IN MINE- OK, this sounds like it might be fun.  What do you want me to do first.

OZ- Put everything back in your basket and take it to the bathroom.

WILLOW DOING AS TOLD- OK, so what are you doing?

OZ- Well right this second I'm walking towards my bathroom.  If you've got everything you need go ahead and go to your bathroom.

WILLOW GRABBING HER ROBE AND THE BASKET- On my way.

OZ ENTERING HIS BATHROOM AND SHUTTING THE DOOR - When you get there go a head and start your bath.  Remember not to make it too hot.  That oatmeal stuff is supposed to cool you off.

WILLOW SETTING HER STUFF DOWN AND CLOSING THE BATHROOM DOOR- All right.  But you've got to tell me what made you think of doing this tonight.

OZ TURNING ON BATH- What, taking a bath?

WILLOW TURNING ON THE WATER- Well ...taking a bath... with me...over the phone.

OZ TESTING THE WATER- Well I can't say it was an completely original idea.  I saw it in a movie.

WILLOW THINKING- The Truth About Cats and Dogs?

OZ SMILING- That's the one.

WILLOW- That was a great movie...I loved the whole telephone conversation, with the tuna and when she played the violin and he reads to her.  You know I wish I felt better, then I could stay up all night and talk to you.  But then again if I felt better we probably would be together and not on the phone.  But what I was trying to say was, this was still a very cool idea.

OZ IN THE TUB NOW- Willow?

WILLOW- yes?

OZ- Are you in the tub yet?

WILLOW- I'm lighting the last candle now.  OK.  Let me get this stinky night gown off, and then oh...ONE FOOT IN...this feels...BOTH FEET IN...wonderful ...SITTING DOWN...sigh.

OZ SMILING- Thanks for the play by play.  So I take it you're in? OZ- Sure am.

WILLOW- Wow, that would mean you're...

OZ- Sure am... But so are you.

WILLOW LOOKING AT HER SPOTTED NAKED BODY- Yeah and boy am I glad you can't see me.

OZ SOUNDING A LITTLE DISAPOINTED- Oh, I understand.

WILLOW- Oh it's not like that although I would be very embarrassed if you were actually here.  It's just the chickenpox have not left me looking my best.

OZ- Oh Willow, don't you know how beautiful you are?  They're just spots... they'll go away.  But even if they didn't you'd still be radiant.

WILLOW BLUSHING FURIOUSLY- Oh Oz, you always say the nicest things.

OZ- Thanks...do you have the book with you?

WILLOW- Yes, it's right here beside the tub.  PICKING THE BOOK UP AND OPENING IT TO A PAGE AND READING- Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by five years to become extremely attractive?

OZ- No. How about you? WILLOW- Definitely not.  OK that was an easy one.  How may different sexual partners have you had?  Would you prefer it was more or fewer?

OZ- One and I'm OK with that number, no regrets, but if I had to choose more or less...I'd choose less.

WILLOW- Well, I'm sure you know my answer is zero, and I'm OK with that.  I'd have to pick more, because you can't go negative in this case.  But Oz I have to ask why you would want it to be less if you're OK with you're number.

OZ- I had always planed on staying together with the girl I lost my virginity to, but for one thing we were both too young to think about forever, and then she moved to New York which kind of killed any chance of that happening anyway.

WILLOW- That's so sad.

OZ- Yea, but she's been gone three years now.  I'm completely over her. We still send Christmas and Birthday cards.

WILLOW-That's nice...OK, next question.  Can you urinate in front of another person?

OZ- yes

WILLOW- no.  READING-If you could have free, unlimited service for five years from an extremely gook cook, chauffeur, housekeeper, masseuse, or personal secretary, which would you choose?

OZ- Definitely the cook.

WILLOW- The cook sounds good to me too.  READING-For a person you loved deeply would you be willing to move to a distant country knowing there would be little chance of seeing you friends or family again.

OZ- yes

WILLOW- I guess if I truly loved someone I could leave my parents and my friends behind and be happy.  But I would run up one heck of a phone bill.

OZ LAUGHING- OK, one more question I'm starting to get a little cold.

WILLOW- If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone?  Why haven't you told them yet?

OZ- Wow, that's a deep question.  If I were to die tonight I would regret not telling you how much I care about you.  How much I like being with you.... How much I love you.

WILLOW AMAZED- You love me?

OZ SMILING- Yea, I do. And I haven't told you because I didn't think we had being dating long enough for me to be confessing my love.  I didn't want to move to fast.  I don't want to scare you.

WILLOW-Oh Oz...you make me feel so happy.  Don't worry, you're not going to scare me away with how much you care about me.  No one has ever said the things you say to me and it just makes me feel so special.  And you definetly are not moving too fast.

OZ SIGHING WITH RELIEF- I never want to lie to you, so when you asked me that question I felt I needed to be honest.

WILLOW- I'm glad you were...If I was to die tonight, what would I regret not telling someone.  Actually I have quite a bit of unfinished business.  I'd want Cordelia to know I don't hate her any more, in fact I'm beginning to enjoy her company.  And Xander, I'd want him to know that I'm OK with his relationship with Cordelia now.  PAUSE- I've had a lot of time to think this week, and I've realized that part of the problems Xander and I have been having are partly my fault.  I've tried to change the relationship we've had for 17 years because I wanted a boyfriend and I mistook my love for my best friend as boyfriend love.  SIGH- Another part of me thought that Xander was the only chance I had of ever having a boyfriend.  SMILING- But you've shown me that's not true.  PAUSE I'd want to tell you that I think about you all the time.  You're in my dreams night and day...I think I'm falling in love with you.

OZ GRINNING FROM EAR TO EAR- Wow Willow, I think that was the greatest thing anyone has ever said to me.  PAUSE- Are you ready to get out of the tub?

WILLOW- Yeah, I'm ready to get out...GIGGLING- I'm turning into a prune.

OZ GETTING OUT OF THE TUB- How do you feel now?

WILLOW OUT OF THE TUB AND PUTTING HER ROBE ON- I'm not as itchy, but more than that I was feeling pretty sorry for myself before you called.  I feel better on the outside as well as the inside. WILLOW WALKING BACK TO HER BEDROOM- Really?  That's so sweet, but then we couldn't have talked like this.

OZ SITTING DOWN IN A CHAIR- I know.  I guess I just wish I could see you.  I miss your face.

WILLOW- Oh, I wish I could see you too.

OZ- OK, be there in five minutes. (dial tone)

WILLOW- *oh my gosh, he's coming over here.*  WILLOW THROWS DIRTY CLOTHS IN HER CLOSET AND STARTS BRUSHING HER HAIR AS SHE LOOKS IN THE MIROR.  *I look horrible I don't want him to see me like this.*

KNOCK, KNOCK

OZ- Willow?

WILLOW GOING OVER TO THE DOOR- Oz you know I can't let you in.  No matter how much I'd like too.

OZ- I know, I just want to see you, can't you pull up the blinds?

WILLOW- Oz...I look ...icky.

OZ LEANING HIS HEAD AGAINST THE DOOR FRAME- Please Willow?

WILLOW SIGHING AND PULLING THE BLINDS UP TO REVEAL OZ- Hi.

OZ SMILING- Oh that's what I was going to say. STAREING - I've missed seeing you.

WILLOW SMILING- I've missed seeing you too.  PLACING HER HAND ON THE WINDOW - I can't wait till I'm better and we can ...touch again too.  BLUSHING AS SHE REALIZES WHAT SHE'S SAID. WILLOW JUST STARES AT OZ UNTILL HE SIGHS AND TAKES HIS HAND DOWN.

OZ- I don't want to go, but it's late and you need to get some sleep if you're going to get well.

WILLOW SIGHING AND REMOVING HER HAND AS WELL- You're right.

OZ- I'll call you tomorrow?

WILLOW SMILING- I'd like that.

OZ SMILING- OK, bye.

WILLOW- Good night.

OZ TURNING TO GO- Yes... yes it was.  HE TURNS AROUND AND WALKS AWAY.

WILLOW CLOSES THE BLINDS

THE END
