Submission and HTML Instructions

Submission Instructions

Okay these are simple instructions. Just follow them and we won't have a problem. Also, all htmled documents are put at the front of the line to be posted and makes you my new best friend :) so if you're in a hurry follow there are also html instructions after the regular instructions. Please read the html instructions, if you're going to html. Half an html job does not get you to the middle of the list, it gets you to the end like everyone else and I'm a little particular about htmling so please read the instrustions. I would highly suggest trying htmling since the waiting list of things to be htmled is several months long.

Now, I need an author :), a disclaimer, and a title at the top.  If you include an author's note I will include it.  You may also include a summary, but please make is 1 line and very short if it's a short story. These should be include at the top like this:

Title: "My Story"
Author: Dreamer

Disclaimer: I don't own them, blah, blah, blah (you can make it as long as you want or as simple, as long as you want)

Author's Notes: optional

Summary: Buffy and Willow have a girl to girl talk.

Alright after that, I'm pretty lenient. Here are the must's, do's, and don'ts, though.

YOU MUST:
Leave a blank line between paragraphs
Label parts, if any.
Send it (the submission) in an e-mail or in an attached .txt, .doc or zipped file.

DON'T:
Send me anything above PG-13
Indent (it's a pain and html hates indents)
Send me unfinished stories and expect me to post them. You can send them, but I won't post it until I have all the parts.
Send me fanfic for other shows. Why anyone would need to be told this, I don't know but ...

DO:
Send "Angel" stories as well as BtVS, I take both.
Send crossovers, just make sure that they do have "Buffy" or "Angel" as one of the crossover shows.
If you send it in an attached file, please at least write one line in the e-mail to tell me it's a submission.
Put Submission or a story title in the subject line of the e-mail, else it might get lost. I get a lot of mail.
Use a beta-reader and a spell checker. I don't mind the occasional mispelled word that slips by the spell checkers, but if it's everyother word, I might have to send it back.
If it's on the line between PG-13 and R, send it in and I'll see what I think or if you're worried use ***
Ask questions. If you're worried about something or don't understand: ask. I like helping.
HTML (pretty, pretty please)
Send the stories, I love submissions :)

HTML Instructions

Thank you, thank you, thank you for htmling.

The first thing you need to know is <P> at the begining of a paragraph and making sure you have a line between paragraphs.

The second is that I put two spaces between sentences.  I just think it makes it easier to read.  Anyway, to do this you put "& nbsp;" after your . , ? or whatever ends your sentence and then a space.  Now for this code just take out the spaces between the & and nbsp; and don't include the ""'s. I had to put the spaces in or the code would just show up as a space.

You don't need to do this for the last sentence in a paragraph though.

Example:
<P>He looked up and darted after her.& nbsp; By the time he caught up to her, she was nearing the entrance of the Bronze.& nbsp; He hurried up the fire escape of a neighboring building, and jumped to the roof of the Bronze.& nbsp; He took up his usual position on the roof, just over the public entrance to the Bronze.& nbsp; Buffy took up her usual position in the doorway below him.

Would show up as:
He looked up and darted after her.  By the time he caught up to her, she was nearing the entrance of the Bronze.  He hurried up the fire escape of a neighboring building, and jumped to the roof of the Bronze.  He took up his usual position on the roof, just over the public entrance to the Bronze.  Buffy took up her usual position in the doorway below him.

(just remember to take out the space between the & and the nbsp; )

Next is for people who like to place thoughts in <>'s.  There is no special html code for > , so don't worry about it but to make a < you have to type "& lt;" without the space and the ""'s.

Example:
& lt;I wonder what Oz is doing> Willow thought idily.& nbsp; & lt;I bet it's more exciting than Trig class>

Would show up as:
<I wonder what Oz is doing> Willow thought idily.  <I bet it's more exciting than Trig class>

And lastly, for anyone who uses song lyrics or poems.  Do Not use <P> to start a new line after the first line, unless you are starting a new verse.  Instead use <BR>

Example:
<P>For this little poem,
<BR>I really shoulda told 'em
<BR>I can't sing a single note
<BR>Or rhyme my way across a moat.

<P>But then again,
<BR>I know my friends,
<BR>Would heartly disagree
<BR>With me on my abilities.

<P>I think I'm rather humble,
<BR>But now again I bumble.
<BR>Please, make your own decisions
<BR>And the html provisions.

<P>& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;~ Dreamer

Would show up as:
For this little poem,
I really shoulda told 'em
I can't sing a single note
Or rhyme my way across a moat.

But then again,
I know my friends,
Would heartly disagree
With me on my abilities.

I think I'm rather humble,
But now again I bumble.
Please, make your own decisions
And the html provisions.

I will take care of the backgrounds and the colors.  I will also take care of size and headings.  If you want italics or bold please write me a note in an e-mail.  If your story is in parts, then please send it to me in parts, with what part it is at the top.  If you html your stories, I stories will be moved to the front of the list, getting them up in the next update.

Thanks for the help
You can send your stories to abaumgar@mason.gmu.edu
