Epilogue

Angel walked Buffy back to her house.  They walked with their arms tightly around each other.

“Angel?” Buffy asked.  “How did you get out?”

“Well, you see, when Droscult came out, you threw something into him.  The thing you threw showed how much passion you have for the world.  Buffy, you gave up something thing that matters to you dearly to save the world.”  He handed Buffy her Claddagh ring.  “When you threw that into him, it fell into Hell.  I found it, and picked it up.  It showed me how much you love me.  It also showed someone else that I had paid my time for all of the bad things I had done.  The man who let me go told me that I now knew what true suffering was.  He told me that I had lost the one thing that mattered to me the most.  You.  He said that it wasn’t my time, and I was free.  Buffy, whenever someone tells you that there isn’t a God, don’t believe them.  He was the one that gave us back each other.”

“I love you, Angel.”

“I love you, too”

And they kissed, and when they stopped, they held each other five minutes until sunlight.  They said goodbye, and Angel ran off into the night.  Buffy went to sleep that night knowing that she would see Angel the next night.  She promised herself that she would never lose him again.  When she fell asleep, she dreamed of her and Angel together watching the sun rise.  It was peaceful, and Buffy smiled.
