Just The Beginning

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  They belong to 20th Century Fox, Joss Whedon, and Mutant Enemy.  I am using them without permission, however I am not making any money off them so please do not sue me.

Author's Notes: Okay, this is an alternate to Angel.  Complete denial fic.  He isn’t a vampire, wouldn’t that be nice?  Some of the lines are from the show, but I changed the scene where they first kiss.  This is for T.S who gave me the idea, I hope you like it.  Enjoy.  Oh, and should I do more after this?  I think I could do one where they faced the ex-girlfriend.  Also, if I do do a sequel, more details of his past and who he is would be explored.  Here I just gave the basic facts and a little bit of back story.  Tell me what you think.  That’s all, enjoy.

Buffy walked into her room.  She closed the door and looked around.  “Angel?” She asked softly.

“Hey.” He replied from near her window, she turned on her desk lamp.

“I brought you some dinner.  It's a little plateless, sorry.” She said, handing him a plastic bag of food.

He accepted it and looked at it.  “Thank you.”

She smiled.  “So!  What'd you do all day?”

He shrugged.  “Uh, I read a little.”

Buffy looked over to her diary.  It was out of place.

Angel continued.  “And just thought about a lot of things.  Buffy, I...”

She interrupted him.  “My diary?  You read my diary?” She went to put it in a drawer.  “That is *not* okay!  A diary is like a person's most private place!” She came back to him.  “I... You don't even know what I was writing about!  'Hunk' can mean a lot of things, bad things.  And, and when it says that your eyes are 'penetrating', I meant to write 'bulgy'.” She cried angrily, he tried to speak.

“Buffy...”

She cut him off again.  “And 'A' doesn't stand for 'Angel' for that matter, it stands for... 'Achmed', a charming foreign exchange student, so that whole fantasy part has nothing to even do with you at all...”

He smiled a little.  “Your mother moved you diary when she came in to straighten up.  I watched from the closet.  I didn't read it, I swear.”

She just looked at him.  “Oh!” She looked down, realising what she just said.  “Oh.”

“I did a lot of thinking today.  I really can't be around you.” Buffy looked up.  “Because when I am...”

She shrugged and walked away a little.  “Hey, no big.  Water... over the bridge, under the bridge...”

They both started speaking at once.

“When I am all I can ever think about is how badly I want to kiss you.”

“...over the dam...Kiss me?”

“I'm older than you, and this can't ever... I better go.”

“H-how much older?” She asked, gazing at him.

“I should...” He started, she approached him.

“...Go... You said...” She finished.

They kissed, it grew passionate as she put her arms around him.  In went on for a minute, before he pulled away.

“Buffy, there’s a lot about me you don’t know.” He said softly, she looked at him for a minute.

“Tell me.” She said huskily, he moved away a little.

“It’s complicated.”

“Does it have to do with you’re family being killed?” She guessed.

He nodded.  “Yeah, it has a lot to do with that.  The vampire that killed them was my girlfriend, she had just been turned.  she came there looking for me, instead she found my family.  She killed them. I came home as she was finishing, she tried to kill me too, but I ran.  I’ve spent the last four years trying to stop as many as I can, and then one day I’ll find her, and kill her.  That’s why I can’t involved with anybody.”

“Why?” She challenged.  “If it’s because of the life you lead, I’m the slayer I live the same.  We could work together.” She said pleadingly.

He looked away. “I’ve worked by myself for so long, I don’t know if I could work with someone else.”

“Angel, give it a try?” She pleaded.

He smiled. “Okay.”

She grinned and through her arms around him.  “I think this is the beginning of something wonderful.” She said, smiling up at him.

He kissed her gently.

“I think so too.”

She looked up at him playfully.  “Just how old are you?”

“24.” He replied, she took a deep breath.

“Wow.”

“Yeah.  Buffy, you’re 16, I’m 24....”

“It doesn’t matter.” She said softly.  “Angel, it wouldn’t matter if you were 241.  I’m falling in love with you.”

“I’m falling in love with you too.” He said gently, she smiled at him.

“So, what do you do?  Besides fight the un-dead, I mean.  College?  A part-time job? ” She asked, realising that she had known almost nothing about him before that night.

“Have you ever heard of Fielding?”

“Yeah.  It’s a computer software company.” She said, he nodded.  "Do you work there?"

“I own it.  I’m Angelus Fielding.  My father was the founder, when he died I inherited everything.”

“Wow.” She replied.

“Yeah, I guess it is.”

“So this means I’m dating a multi-millionaire?” She asked, poking him in his ribs.

He looked shocked.  “Dating?”

She looked a little embarrassed.  “You don’t want to date?”

“I do.” He said softly.

“So do I.” She said just as softly.  He kissed her again, sealing the bargain.

This really was just the beginning. Who knew what would happen next?
