Love Hurts

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  They belong to 20th Century Fox, Joss Whedon, and Mutant Enemy.  I am using them without permission, however I am not making any money off them so please do not sue me.

Author's Notes: This is Spike’s POV right after he meets Parker in The Harsh Light of Day.  It’s angsty, and Spike isn’t that much of a villain.  Mainly because I don’t want him to be.  Enjoy.

I don’t get what she sees in him.  Well I do, but I think she’s fallen completely off her rocker.

Things have obviously ended between her and soul boy, I heard he’s taken up residence in Los Angeles, so she’s trying to move on.  She picked a guy as different from Angel as possible, this one’s human.

That’s a big difference.  She’s trying to fool herself into making it work.

How do I know?  Because it’s exactly what I’m doing with Harmony.  I’m with her because I can’t have Drusilla, also because I lost a bet.  She was right about that one.

We’re both in the same situation, we’ve lost the people we really love and are trying to move on.  She won’t be any more successful than me.  I’ve been with Harmony for two months now and still Dru is all I can think about.

I bet that it’s the same for the slayer, I bet all she can think about is her dear Angel.  So he left her, I wonder why.  He wouldn’t have done it willingly, he loves her too much.  maybe they realised that they’ll never be friends and decided that this was the only way things could be.

I’m damn glad.  I don’t need them getting happy again, I wouldn’t want Angelus to show up again.  He was a real pain the last time and I so don’t want to go through that again.  He’s the reason I lost Dru.

I’ll hate him until the day I die, just as she’ll love him until her death.  That Parker guy is just to show herself she’s over Angel.  If she could have Angel, she’d dump Parker in a minute.

She might anyway, he’s not her type.  He’s too vulnerable, I would have thought that in her line of work she’d realise that vulnerability hinders you.

Besides it’ll never work out, I bet he doesn’t know her secret identity.  It’ll never work out because she loves someone else.

In the end love hurts.
