The Most Perfect Dream

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  They belong to 20th Century Fox, Joss Whedon, and Mutant Enemy.  I am using them without permission, however I am not making any money off them so please do not sue me.

Author's Notes: This is the 8th in my new series.  It follows “Meant To Be,” “Friends Like These,” “Facing the Consequences,” “Eavesdropping,” “Laughter and Luggage,” “Wedding Plans,” and “Wedding Dresses.”  Read those first.  I decided to hurry up with the wedding, so this is it.  Buffy and Angel get married.  Yea!  This is for all those nice people who sent me feedback for the others.  I hope you like this one.  Enjoy.

Feedback: Please, the more feedback I get the more I write.

Buffy looked around the small chapel as she walked down the alter.  This was it, she and Angel were finally getting married.

She stopped beside him, and they joined hands.  Beside them Cordelia and Whistler did the same thing.

“Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to join these men and these women in the holy act of matrimony.” The priest said.

Spike leaned over to Willow. “Doesn’t it sound as if they’re committing polygamy?”

Willow stifled a giggle and shot him a look.  “Concentrate.” She hissed, he sighed and focused on the ceremony.

“Do you Cordelia take this man James to be your lawful wedded husband, forsaking all others for him as long as you both shall live?” The priest asked, Cordelia nodded, tears in her eyes.

“I do.”

He turned to Buffy.  “Do you Elizabeth take this man Angelus to be your lawful wedded husband, forsaking all others for him as long as you both shall live?”

Buffy looked at Angel, love shining in her eyes.  This was it, after so long they were finally getting married.  Dreams were coming true.

“I do.” She said softly, he turned to Whistler.

“Do you James take this woman Cordelia to be your lawful wedded wife, forsaking all others for her as long as you both shall live?”

“I do.” Whistler said without hesitation.

“Do you Angelus take this woman Elizabeth to be your lawful wedded wife, forsaking all others for her as long as you both shall live?” Angel glanced tenderly at Buffy.

“I do.”

The priest smiled and continued.  “Each couple has chosen to write their own vows.  Cordelia, you go first.”

Cordelia looked deep into his eyes.  “When I first met you I thought what a fashion disaster.”  Everyone chuckled. “But that changed as I got to know you, I saw what a kind and considerate man you are.  When we first met I was trying to get over someone, you helped me.  A lot.  I think I fell in love with you right away, I can’t remember not loving you.”

Whistler smiled and took her hand.  “There are a lot of things I could say.  But I’m not going to, all I’m going to say is that I love you and I will forever.  Literally.”

The priest looked confused, but motioned for Buffy to go.

“Angel, I think I fell in love with you when you gave me your leather jacket all those years ago.  I always felt that in the end I was alone, you changed that.  You saved me so many times, that’s why I was so frightened when I lost you.  I felt as if I was once again all alone and that scared me.  I turned to others, and I even almost married one.  But in the end I knew you were the only one for me, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.  I love you Angel, and I always will.  You mean the world to me.  I know that I will never, ever stop loving you.  I can’t, you're a part of me.”

Angel smiled tenderly at her before beginning his own vows.  “Buffy I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you.  You were so young and innocent. I truly believed that you could never love me. See I thought that nobody could love me because of the mistakes I’ve made in my life.  But you were always there for me.  Even after the way I hurt you, you still loved me.  You were the thing that always made me a better person.  Always made me strive to be better.  When I learned about Xander I was sad, but I came to say goodbye. Instead my wildest dreams came true and you agreed to be my wife. I love you, and I always will.  Until death do us part, and even after that, for I truly believe we are soul mates.”

Buffy looked like she was about to cry.  “Wow.” She whispered, Angel smiled and took her hand in his.

The priest continued.  “The rings please.” Spike handed them to him.  “Cordelia, repeat after me.  With this ring, I thee wed.”

Cordelia slipped a ring on Whistler’s finger, and smiled at him as she spoke.  “With this ring, I thee wed.”

“Now James.  With this ring, I thee wed.”

Whistler gently placed a ring on Cordelia’s finger.  “With this ring, I thee wed.”

“Elizabeth, with this ring, I thee wed.”

Buffy slipped a ring on Angel’s finger, and looked up at him as she spoke.  “With this ring, I thee wed.”

“Now Angelus.  With this ring, I thee wed.”

Angel gently placed a ring on Buffy’s finger.  “With this ring, I thee wed.”

“I now pronounce you husband and wife.  You may kiss the brides.”

Angel lifted Buffy’s veil and kissed her tenderly as Whistler did the same for Cordelia.  Spike put his arm around Willow, and waited for the others to finish.

The newly married couples pulled away.

“Wow.” Buffy said happily, looking up at Angel.

“Yeah.” He said softly.

“We’re married.” She said, not quite believing it.

Angel nodded, and then kissed her again.  Buffy kissed her husband back, almost not believing this was real.

Her most perfect dream had come to life.
