Epilogue

Taela stood in the cemetery of the small Canadien town she had grown up, her father, Xander, and Buffy with her, they had all flown out for Michelle’s funeral.

It was over now, she was the only one left.

Taela stood in front of the casket, which would soon be buried near that of Michelle’s grandmother.  She layed a single pink rose on it.  Michelle’s favourite flower.

She turned to the others.  “It feels so strange, burying her.”

Buffy nodded.  “I know.”

Taela glanced around, and smiled softly.  “She loved it here.  We used to play here is children, bring her dolls here.”  Seeing the strange looks the others were giving her she shrugged.  “Hey, there weren’t that many places to play around here.”

She glanced at the casket again.  “Goodbye.” She said quietly, tears forming in her eyes.

She turned to go, when suddenly she felt something.  She turned around and saw Michelle.  “Michelle?” Taela asked, the girl smiled.

“Yeah.  It’s not over Taela, Jen’s dead, and the threats over for now.  But it’s far from over.”

Taela looked hopefully at Michelle.  “Will you be there?”

Michelle grinned.  “Wouldn’t miss it for the world, but until then this is goodbye.  You were the best friend I ever had.”

“And you were mine.” Taela said softly, Michelle smiled before disappearing, her last words barely an echo.

“Talk to you.”

Taela grinned at Michelle’s customised goodbye, she then turned and left.

Smiling at the memory of her best friend.  But still knowing she spoke the truth, it wasn’t over yet.

But she could handle it, if she could survive this she could survive anything.

Besides she wasn’t alone, she had her father.  She smiled and took his hand.  Together, followed by Buffy and Xander, they left the cemetery, and Taela’s old life.

She didn’t look back once.
