The World’s Worst Pickup Line

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  They belong to 20th Century Fox, Joss Whedon, and Mutant Enemy.  I am using them without permission, however I am not making any money off them so please do not sue me.

Author's Notes: This story is based on the Angel promos.  I was asked to do a story where it wasn’t a pickup line.  So voila!  I am a B/A fan so this is slightly slanted that way.  This is for Jennie, who gave me the idea.  See, I did it.

Feedback: Please!  I live off the stuff.

“Any chance you are in need of some,” Angel paused trying to figure out how to say it without it sounding like a pick up line.  “Rescuing?” He finished, knowing that she thought it was a totally pick up line.  Damn Doyle, telling him to say that stupid line.  Oh, well he might as well finish it.  “Are you a damsel in distress?”

“That is the lamest line I’ve ever heard.  You’re pathetic.” The woman said, looking at him disgust.

“Wait!” Angel cried, pitting his hand on her arm.  “I didn’t mean it as a pick up line.  Really.  I’m a detective, I’m trying to help people.  I have a very sadistic friend who told me to say that.”

“Oh.  I’m sorry, I tend to snap at people a lot.  My boyfriend just dumped me.”

“I’m sorry.” Angel said sympathetically, she shrugged.

“It’s okay. I’m getting over it.  By the way I’m Kate Cassidy.”

“Angel......Summers.” He said, picking the first name he thought of.  Of course it was hers, she was all he thought of.  His sweet Buffy who he loved so much.

“Angel, that’s a nice name.” Kate said, she smiled and turned to go.  “Maybe I’ll see you around!” She called, crossing the street.

Angel watched her go, his mind on Buffy.  His beautiful blond Buffy, he made up his mind that as soon he got home he’d call her.

After he talked to Doyle that is, how could he make him say that?  It was the lamest pick-up line he’d ever heard, and it wasn’t even a pickup line.

He so had to talk to the annoying little demon.
